Writer's Block: Untimely Passing
Dec. 8th, 2008 06:06 pm[Error: unknown template qotd]Well, Alexander Solzhenitsyn's wasn't exactly unexpected, and certainly not untimely, but i was kinda like, "oh darn!" when i saw he died. but he's prolly in a better place.
this reminds me of my dad recalling where he was when he heard JFK was shot: in choir or music class, in the 3rd grade. he says a girl in his class started crying.
speaking of John Lennon, i was thinking of his and Yoko's song "Happy Xmas" and realized he would have died during Advent. so i looked it up: Monday in the second week of Advent. Now i'm going to look up an even bigger December tragedy: the Dec. 7 Pearl Harbor attack: 2nd Sunday in Advent.
And in looking these up, i noticed that the Advent Sundays in 1980 and 1941 are both on the same dates as this year. hm. (b/c Christmas was on Thursday those years, as it is this year.)
